The story of Vadiaperti starts with Antonio Troisi back in the 19th century. Antonio emigrated to the USA and started one of the very first Italian wine import companies. He selected products from his area- the Inpirnia region of Campania and sold them to the American market. He owned vineyards, but the fruit was sold to the local coop until his son Antonio Jr produced the first estate bottling in 1984. Antonio Jr’s son, Raffaele followed his father in the vineyards and helped make the wine. After pursuing his degree in Chemistry, Raffaele decided to go back to the estate to make wine full time in the mid 1990’s. Today Raffaele also teaches enology at the local wine school in Montefredane.

Raffaele Troisi is a winegrower who combines peasant knowledge with a technical and agronomic preparation: He quickly abandoned all the technical methods of growing and winemaking he learned in school and, as he told us, "he put in the drawer" to devote himself to growing grapes and making wine in a more natural way. Raffaele pays extreme attention to the use of non-invasive techniques that respect the terroir which do not alter the varietal characteristics of its grapes and wines. His favorite wine producer is Ravaneau, and he has quite a collection of these wines in his cellar. This is always a good sign!!
